Parenting support/ courses

In this section, you can find information about where to get help and advice around parenting classes and courses

Being a parent can be amazing, but we all need some help, advice, and practical tips at times. Parenting courses can provide support and guidance to parents and carers.

It’s possible you could be struggling with the behaviour of a child. Or you might be about to become a parent again or for the first time.

You might have lost a family member and be struggling to support your children and to cope with grief and loss.

You may be looking for support to address issues around parenting teenagers, or are simply seeking some hints and tips on parenting in the company of other parents and carers.

Parenting programmes provide parents and families with practical strategies to improve family life. Programmes run in all kinds of places including schools, Family Hubs and Community Centres across Stoke-on-Trent. Some may need a referral, but others will not. There are online courses, and books.

Local and national links are shown below.  Many of these will show how you can get in touch if you need to talk to someone. There are also a good range of apps that can be downloaded and used as a source of support and self-help.

Remember that you can also call into one of the Community Lounges or Family Hubs who will try to help you or put you in touch with the right organisation.  You can find where they are by clicking on the links below:
