Care Experience as a Protected Characteristic
New section Care Experience as a Protected Characteristic
Stoke-on-Trent City Council has recognised care experience as a locally protected characteristic.
This means that when the Council makes decisions, develops services or creates policies, we think about how those decisions may affect care-experienced people and what we can do to reduce any disadvantages they may face.
This recognition has helped raise awareness of the challenges that care-experienced young people can experience and helps make sure your voice and experiences are considered when services are designed and improved.
Fair Treatment for Everyone
We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind.
We are committed to making sure you can access support regardless of your:

Supporting Your Individual Needs
We will listen to you, understand what is important to you and consider any additional support you may need.
Where appropriate, we will make reasonable adjustments and help you access services that value and celebrate diversity.
Our Commitment
We want every care-experienced young person to feel safe, included, respected and valued.
Our aim is to remove barriers, create opportunities and support you to achieve your goals, be ambitious for your future and reach your full potential.
